PARASITE PREVENTION/CONTROL

Parasites live all around us, which means they live all around our pets, too! While you can't see them with the naked eye, these parasites can cause serious illness and even death. Fleas and ticks can be passed to your pet at any point outside, even if you are not in a high-risk area. Ticks can transmit infections like Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis and more. Not only can fleas infest your pet, home and yard, but they can also transmit intestinal parasites like tapeworms if they are ingested. Heartworms are carried by infected mosquitos, which can bite your pet even when they are indoor. Animals can also pick up intestinal parasites like hookworms and roundworms which are zoonotic (can be transmitted to people). Your pet may not always show symptoms, they can be severe and interfere with their quality life.

Keeping your pets on monthly prevention can drastically reduce, if not eliminate these risks together. The staff at Hebron Parkway Veterinary Hospital are happy to go over the different options that we have in our clinic to find what fits you and your pet's lifestyle best.
